Neha Sobti is graduating with a doctoral degree from the Department of Administration, Leadership, and Technology at NYU. Neha formerly received a B.A. in Human Development and Psychological Services from Northwestern University, an M.A. in Education Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.A. in Math Education from St. John’s University. As an educator and district administrator for NYC public schools for the past eleven years, she has worked to bridge research and practice to address pressing equity issues in education locally and nationally. Her research interests are at the intersection of racial equity and school discipline, focusing on restorative justice and healing-centered engagement as alternatives to exclusionary school discipline practices disproportionately impacting Black youth. In the future, she hopes to partner with communities, families, youth, educators, and leaders to foster belonging, safety, and joy for all children in our schools.
